Defense chief Torashima faces reporters over alleged espionage

TOKYO, Japan - Defense Agency chief Kazuo Torashima looks grim at a Sept. 8 news conference at the Diet in Tokyo where he explained the alleged passing of Japanese defense secrets to Russia by a senior officer in the Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF). The officer is accused of giving secrets to a Russian military attache in Tokyo on about 10 occasions. Torashima said the agency will set up a special team to investigate the case.
